Timog’s Dinelli Gourmet
We were looking for desserts when we spotted Dinelli along Timog Avenue. We didn’t know what it was, but we were desperate for something chocolatey so we stopped and planted our butts firmly here.
It was the greatest surprise of our lives – Dinelli is a market cafe that looks like the products are all from Australia, similar to Market Cafe. There’s a fine selection of truffles, cheese, beef, steak cuts and fresh olives.
There is also a fine set of cakes you can take a look at. We tried the Truffle cake at P80 per slice and it was the best P80 cake on the earth. In fact, I’d happily pay double the price for the moist cake that was served delectable to us.
The ambiance is rustic Australian – think red brick walls, dark seats and courteous servers. It’s a great place to take a fist date to – classy, romantic, yet down-to-earth and has great food as well.
Shelves of imported Australian products also abound – biscuits, chocolate, jams, nuts, etc. A great Filipino lesson they’ve adapted for the store is ‘tingi’ – some of the packages have been pre-opened so that the small chocolate pieces can be bought per piece.
The imported goodies are quite pricey – a box of candy crinkles cost around P200. But search hard enough and you’ll find treasures. We found some 500 gram great chocolates and biscuit packs at around P200 each – a catch.
There’s a menu board that tells you what the specials are. There’s steak and soup and other items that look quite yummy. We will try the fare at a date when we have bigger budgets (the steak costs around P700-800 per serving), and I’ll post the review here.
For a complete meal, expect to shell out up to P1,000 for 2 people. Add another P100 for a glass of wine, which I’m sure will go down quite well.
You can get the food from the shelves and ask the staff to prepare them for you. If that chocolate tray looks very tempting, go ahead and open it and have it chilled for a little while, before you pop some for dessert with your date. This is really an excellent date place.

How to taste wine!

I had such a bad dining experience there last Saturday!!
The location is fine – the ambiance is not so bad – but the quality of service is TERRIBLE!!
Sayang yung lugar.
Hope they improve their service!!
^ I’m so sorry to hear that Didi! I wonder how bad their service was? We just ordered dessert there so it wasn’t much of service needed. Care to share more?
