It was the Toy Kingdom Sale at SM Megamall and we were pooped after a couple of hours of scouring for toys (we got some at ridiculous bargain prices!) and decided to plop ourselves down at Eat & Go – a new restaurant at SM Megamall’s equally-new SM Megamall Atrium.

Notice the cute large vegetables hanging from the ceiling

The place is very much like a nice cafeteria, reminding you of Sbarro. Some food is displayed on enticing trays, but they also have a menu. Some interesting decors are up – gigantic vegetables are suspended on top of the counter and gives a nice visual complement to the fun casual atmosphere.

More of ‘em yum stuff

You’ll be led to a seat by an enthusiastic English-speaking server, and given a menu.

Menu

The menu has some entrees and pasta, but the best thing are the combo meals for those who don’t want to be limited to one fare. Some pasta and entrees are combined to make some pretty interesting combination meals.

I got the spaghetti and roast pork combination, while my date got salmon and rice.

Salmon at Eat & Go

Baked Salmon (P230) – the sauce is to die for

Poking

The salmon was soft and creamy with some bleu cheese sauce, and it was cooked just right. The creamy cheese sauce was the best thing about it though, and the server gladly gave us a second helping for free when we used it up for just half of our food.

My pasta was decent, but the roast pork was terrible! It tasted like it came straight from a can, with sauce dribbled on top of it.

budget

Prepare P200-P250 each for a combo meal and bread/soup you can split with your date.

Eat & Go should be renamed Hit or Miss – some food items can be surprisingly really good, and some really bad, depending on your order. We’ll probably go ahead and try it again some time to form a final conclusion.

prices tip

Try some of the bread on display at the counter – it looks yummy, and there’s a 50% chance it tastes good, too.
