Bugong Chicken: Don’t Bring Your Date Here!
What is Bugong?
Has someone ever asked you about Bugong chicken in Makati? And then, of course the most natural response would be, “What in Kenny Roger’s name is Bugong?”
Well, we’re here to tell you all about it. Bugong is a hole-in-the-wall, roast chicken take-out and delivery place along Valero at Makati City.
A whole meal of P59 - beat that
Its unbelievably cheap, even for non-Makati prices. A quarter chicken with rice sells for P87. Can you believe that?
I am warning you – Bugong is not the typical date place you don’t want to be in. There is no ambiance except the streets of Makati and the harried people passing through. Kind of like New York delis. Not. The place can be messy and the tables sticky, and you’ll inhale all the pollution the passing motorists emit.

No, the best way to enjoy Bugong is to take it out or have it delivered. If you’re parked in an empty lot near the street and are spent after doing some other activity, you can take some Bugong chicken out and bring it inside the car, where both of you can eat in luscious peace.
Or better yet, if you’re lucky enough to have a Makati condo nearby, have some delivered. There is nothing better to energize your date or make him or her recuperate than a quarter roast chicken.

I got a Bugong quarter chicken, rice and papaya achara as side dish. The papaya achara was greatwith the roast chicken, and for P87 I can never complain. Actually, the chicken isn’t half bad. It was soft and it even had gravy, and the rice was actually more than enough. I want to try the barbeque next.
Stay tuned for Mako’s own Bugong review.
P100 per person for a quarter chicken, rice, side dish and a bottle of drink! How can anybody beat that? Even the Makati Jollijeeps can’t!
We reiterate the taking out or delivery part. But if you really want to get down and dirty and experience the Makati crowds at its fullest, go at brunch, or for quieter times, go at around 8 in the evening.
