An Icebergs Date at Timog

Icebergs is a great place for dessert as night cap, but we gave the Timog branch a chance for a dinner date one time.

ambiance

Icebergs is friendly and is actually really built for families, but the displays of calorie-rich but super-tempting ice creams attract couples dating as well.

The place is big and actually has a second floor which I got to visit, but I think they closed it down because the place doesn’t get full anyway. When you want to go to the restroom, you can take a peek at the 2nd floor.

The menu is surprising because you and your date will find, other than the usual parfaits, banana splits, sunades and shakes some Filipino favorites like burgers, sandwiches and Filipino dishes.

I ordered the liempo at about about P145. It came big and shiny with a giant cup of rice and achara. It smelled good and I was excited.

Except that when I took a bite, it was slightly chewy. The meat wasn’t grilled to perfection and it wasn’t defrosted properly. It was okay, but I’d like to think that I wanted my liempo of better quality from what I’d get for P70 at my favorite turo-turo.

But then again I guess we deserved it, ordering something other than the house favorite. I haven’t really learned my lesson.

Good thing the Iceberg chocolate ice cream was good. It was plain and stood naked among all the peanuted and sprinkled parfaits in the menu, but it held its own.

P280 each person if your date includes a full meal and a desert you want to split

tip

We suggest you go to Icebergs for a purely dessert date. The food is good, but you can find better-priced and better-tasting alternatives somewhere alse. Just be sweet and split a parfait or ice cream bowl at Iceberg’s.
