Adarna Food and Culture: Ambiance comes at a price
Adarna Food and Culture is hard to miss along Kalayaan Ave., Quezon City – the big sign and excellent exteriors give it away. Once inside you will really feel like you are in an old Spanish colonial house. The steel-backed chairs and garden in the middle of the place give out a warm and zen feel.
The food is quite good in Adarna Food and Culture, although I find it on the high side. It’s along Fely J’s prices, and the servings are good enough for two. You will find that the food is slightly “fusionistic” and experimental: Chef Giney Villar and Beth Angsioco makes sure they have a unique menu.
I’ve only dined here once but the fried beef steak and the pansit were delicious, but I personally don’t find too outstanding. We also ordered a weird dessert – fried caramel balls with cow cheese milk inside, draped in mango sauce. It was great when I ate it a part at a time – eating them all together seemed a bit too exotic for me.
Anyway, the dining experience really comes from the ambiance – the exquisite wall furnishings really make you feel that the P200 pansit is worth it.
For a first-time date or a celebratory dinner, I can recommend a night in Adarna. They have an Adarna facebook account that you can add to receive updates on promos and new dishes Giney Villar works on. They also hold tertulias from time to time, which you can take advantage of. (Tertulias are small gatherings for friends)

Bring a camera. The place is extremely photogenic and quiet – perfect for bringing someone who’s been away from the country for too long.

Hmmm the fried caramel balls dessert reads very interesting. I don’t necessarily love the exotic, but I love to try anything at least once. And, the place does look very photogenic. Nice-looking fixtures.
